BLUEFIELD, VA (WOAY) – The City of Bluefield in Tazewell County has recently sold an iconic building.
The Magic Mart, which used to be a large department store, was just sold to a company operating out of North Carolina. The company plans to refurbish the building and lease it out to local business owners.
Mayor of Bluefield Don Harris said that recently the town has seen a lot of economic hardship, so this sale has been a good thing for them.
“We’ve lost our hospital so to speak, except for the emergency room, and other disadvantages we’ve been faced with economically with the COVID-19. So this has been an absolute wonderful boom for us here in Bluefield, Virginia.
Magic Mart closed the location in 2018, and it has been out of operation since then.
