American Foundation for Suicide Prevention hosting WV Construction Hike for Hope on May 9

Mullens, WV (WOAY) A statewide effort to support mental health in the construction industry is coming to West Virginia this spring.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is hosting the West Virginia Construction Hike for Hope on Saturday, May 9.

The event will take place at two locations.

The first will be at Coopers Rock State Park in Bruceton Mills, with another event at Twin Falls State Park in Mullens to bring people together for one shared mission.

Check-in begins at 10:00 am, followed by a program at 11:30 am and a group hike.

Organizers say the event aims to raise awareness and provide support, as the construction industry has one of the highest suicide rates in the country.
