RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Country Domes luxury glamping retreat is something you might experience on a distant travel destination — yet we have it right here on Table Rock Road in Grandview. The exclusive geodesic dome offers an alternative way to be close to nature.
“This dome in particular is very unique. It’s state-of-the-art. It has real glass and insulated panels,” said Owner John Mize. “It’s more like a home. It’s not a tent, it’s a home. And in addition to having a unique property, we wanted to have a unique offering.”
Exclusively a couples retreat, Country Domes allows you and your partner to check out from the real world for a few days, rekindle, and focus on each other. Mize and his wife, Janet dreamed of this for some time. Married for 28 years, they realize life gets hectic.
“You don’t always give each other the love and attention you need,” Janet said. “So this was like a getaway we wanted to create for adult couples. No kids, no animals, no responsibilities. Just relax and love each other.”
It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Stepping into Country Domes is a magical couples retreat that will help you unwind and reconnect.
The Mizes wondered how they could bring some of the vibrant ambiance from the places they love to travel home to the Mountain State.
“And allow people who maybe can’t afford to go to Gatlinburg, can’t afford to go to Colorado, to still have an experience that they didn’t think they were going to get here in West Virginia,” said John.
He said a lot of domes are just plastic tents that may be too cold to stay in wintertime or in the summertime may be too hot. He says not Country Domes: it’s well insulated and designed for year-round use.
“We’ve got HVAC units in here, and heated tile floors,” he said. “So January to me is going to be very romantic in here. If you sit and look out the bay window and see snow flying and you’ve got the heated tile floor and the fireplace, the surround sound playing that’s built into the walls, a glass of wine with your wife, I can’t think of anything better.”
John and Janet make it a unique experience for each of their dome visitors.
“We ask our guests, are you having a birthday or an anniversary?” said John. “What’s your spouse’s name? And we use all those elements to make them feel like this is made just for them when they walk in the door.”
Just one tank of gas will get you to Grandview’s Country Domes to enjoy your partner inbeauty and serenity.
