Alleged shooter turns himself in to authorities in connection with Princeton gas station shooting

Princeton, WV (WOAY)-A suspect in a gas station shooting has now turned himself in to authorities.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on Monday, April 21, at the Little General Store on Athens Road in Princeton.

Police responded to reports of a gunshot victim after receiving a call stating the suspect had fled the scene in a purple car, heading toward Athens.

The victim, identified as Antonio Bland, reportedly left the scene in a separate vehicle and sought medical treatment at Princeton Community Hospital.

Witnesses told investigators that a confrontation began when the suspect was leaving the store. Bland’s female companion attempted to stop him, leading to a heated exchange.

Bland reportedly tried to de-escalate the situation and asked his companion to leave the suspect alone. However, she followed the man to his car and reached into the vehicle.

That’s when the suspect pulled out a pistol and shot Bland in the arm.

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Antwon Mitchell of Princeton.

Mitchell turned himself in to local authorities on Wednesday, April 23rd. He is now facing charges of malicious wounding.
