Alderson, WV (WOAY)- Authorities are investigating what led to a fatal fire in Greenbrier County.
According to an official statement from the state fire marshal’s office, the fire happened at 3:30 p.m. on March 3 at a barn on Mountain View Parkway in Alderson.
The Smoot volunteer fire department, state fire marshal investigators, and several other area fire departments responded to the scene and recovered the victim from the barn.
The 70-year-old man ultimately died as a result of his injuries.
Emergency services transported the victim to the WV Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for proper identification and autopsy.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation.
