Alderson residents continue to struggle with aftermath of flash flood

ALDERSON, WV (WOAY) – The town of Alderson is still dealing with the aftermath of a flash flood that occurred earlier this weekend.

Around two-dozen homes were damaged as heavy rains flooded Griffith Creek. Many basements were flooded and a few roads still have standing water more than two days after the flooding.

One resident says standing water on certain roads after heavy rain has been a problem in the town for years.

“I have walked all these streets, and pretty much they’re all dry except this. So we’re getting tired of it,” she said.

No injuries were reported during the flash flood, but the vast amount of property damage is still being assessed.
