Huntington, WV (WOAY) Huntington Police say a suspect is now in custody following a deadly double shooting.
According to an official media release, the Huntington Police Department has been actively investigating a shooting that took place on Friday, February 20, in the 300 block of 14 Street in Huntington.
Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. and found three people suffering from gunshot injuries.
Two victims, identified as Adrian Phillips and Derious Johnson, died from their injuries.
A third victim was also shot and remains in stable condition at a local hospital.
Investigators identified 27-year-old Kevante White of Akron as the suspect.
On Saturday, February 21, detectives obtained warrants charging White with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony malicious wounding in connection with the third victim.
Police say White fled to Ohio after the shooting.
Investigators then requested assistance from the US Marshals Service to help locate him.
On Sunday, February 22, White was arrested in Stark County by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals.
He is being held as a fugitive from justice while awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
