While we have had some pretty active weather in the past week, we are not looking to change that any time soon. The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of West Virginia under a Slight Risk of severe weather for Monday, but parts of Southern West Virginia are just under a Marginal Risk. Areas in the light green are under a general thunderstorm risk, but most areas should remain dry as there are just a couple storms that are expected to come near our area.
The most pressing issue that we will have over the next 7 days will be the flash flood threat. Tuesday and Wednesday are days which the Weather Prediction Center has included parts of our area under a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall. As we take a look at the European model over the next 7 days, the majority of our area should see at least an inch of rain, but heavy rain does appear likely for some and the European model hints at that with localized area over 3 inches.
Comparing that to the GFS model, widespread areas of 2 inches are shown with localized areas approaching 5.5 inches of rain. The GFS does appear to be a little overdone, but like what we just saw, we cannot rule out some isolated storms dumping out enough rainfall to produce flash flooding.
 
Taking a look at the full 7 day forecast, while Sunday and Monday should remain drier for the most part. The thunderstorm potential looks more active Wednesday into Thursday. Friday still appears to have a good shot at rainfall and Saturday has a chance as well, though being 7 days out it’s not fully guaranteed.
