OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – We’ve seen showers and storms over the far southwestern areas today. This evening we’re continuing to track storms to our west, and some of these are on the strong side. A few of these showers could make it into our area later tonight. The recent mild trend will continue as well, and we’ll once again be in the mid-60s. Patchy fog is also possible during the morning commute tomorrow.
Tomorrow will be another active day, with more chances for showers and storms. As has been the case recently, the moisture content in the atmosphere is quite high, so heavy rain and flash flooding are once again something that we’ll have to watch for.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the eastern and southern parts of the area until 8 am tomorrow. The northern and western areas, meanwhile, have a Flood Watch in effect until 8 a.m. Friday morning.
Highs will also continue recent trends and will wind up in the lower 80s. Lows tomorrow night will once again struggle to drop below 70 degrees before settling in the mid-60s. A front pushes through on Friday and will trigger more showers and storms, some of which could again be strong to severe.
The weekend looks much better weather-wise as a weak area of high pressure takes over and drops the rain chances to more typical summer levels, around 40% on Saturday and 30% on Sunday. Monday, another front brings enhanced rain chances, but overall drier weather is in the forecast as we get a break from the very active weather pattern that we’ve seen recently. Temperatures, meanwhile, will remain consistent through the end of the forecast.
