WV (WOAY) – Monday, Governor Patrick Morrisey named Lance Yardley as the acting commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Yardley replaces William ‘Billy’ Marshall III, who was chosen by President Trump to lead the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Yardley has had over 30 years of experience.
He has served as the deputy commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 2024, and started as a corrections officer at South Central Regional Jail in 1993.
Following this, Yardley has served as a correctional case manager, correctional unit manager, associate warden, warden, chief of institutional operations, and deputy commissioner.
