Ace Adventure Resort experiences success in reopening

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – One of the popular tourist attractions in Oak Hill, Ace Adventure Resort, reopened on Memorial Day. It wasn’t easy to predict what would happen when adventures at Ace resumed at the beginning of the summer. While keeping with state guidelines, the resort didn’t think that it would be operating so well so soon.

“The demand was the biggest surprise,” said sales management team member Bradley Scott. “We’re operating currently at half capacity with most of our activities. Obviously it would be nice for us as a company to be able to operate at full capacity. But we’re perfectly happy to operate within the guidelines we have here to make sure we’re keeping our guests safe.”

Ace has dealt with a hard limit on capacity in order to follow social distancing protocol. That hasn’t stopped both guests and the staff from enjoying their experiences and adventures.

“How we structure people in their groups,” Scott said. “Keeping individual groups together and making sure groups from different areas stay socially distant from each other, not only while on the property, but while on their adventures, are just a couple of key ways we’re ensuring safety while people are here.”

There hasn’t been any notice as to if or when Ace will be able to increase its capacity. Although it would be nice to allow more people into the resort, the primary concern is functioning properly and safely throughout the summer.

“It’s our goal as a company to share adventures, and share outdoor experiences and outdoor recreation with as many people as we can,” Scott said. “But only if we can keep those people safe and our staff safe.”

All activities are currently open at the Resort.
