West Virginia (WOAY) With Thanksgiving just two months away, AAA is urging holiday travelers to start making their plans now.
AAA says booking flights, hotels, rental cars, and vacation packages early can give travelers more options for schedules, seats, and pricing.
For Thanksgiving travel, AAA recommends booking by early to mid-October.
For Christmas and New Year’s travel, travelers should aim to book by the end of October.
AAA also says travelers shouldn’t focus solely on finding the lowest airfare.
The cheapest ticket could come with fewer nonstop flights, less desirable departure times, baggage fees, or limited seat selection.
AAA says the old advice about booking flights on Tuesdays is no longer a guarantee of savings.
Airlines are increasingly using dynamic pricing, which means fares can change based on demand, inventory, and other market conditions.
Travelers are also encouraged to arrive at the airport early, have a plan in case of delays or cancellations, and consider travel insurance to help protect their investment.
