A mild and active weather week ahead

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It is a cold start to the day around the area, as everyone is at or below the freezing mark. It’s definitely a good idea to have a jacket or sweater on as you head out!
There is a bit of a breeze in some areas, especially in the higher elevation locations, and a Wind Advisory is in effect for northwest Pocahontas County until 10 a.m. Later today, the winds will calm down a bit, but temperatures will stay cool for the season, mainly in the mid to upper 40s. Southern areas will be slightly warmer, generally in the lower to middle 50s.
Tonight, an area of low pressure will approach from the west and will begin to produce rain and possibly a mix of precipitation. This will be mainly in areas to our north, but with temperatures at or below the freezing mark, some of the precipitation could fall as either a mix of rain, sleet, and snow or as freezing rain, making travel very hazardous tomorrow morning in areas to our north.
I think that temperatures will be warm enough for what we see to fall as a cold November rain, but we’ll be tracking it for you. By tomorrow afternoon and evening, all of the precipitation will fall in the wet form, and in addition to the rain, some rumbles of thunder will be possible.
The showers and possible storms on Tuesday and into early Wednesday are the start of a mild but active weather pattern this week. The chance for showers returns on Friday and Saturday, but with temperatures on the mild side, this precipitation will fall as rain as well. Overall, highs this week will be in the mid-50s and above throughout the extended forecast.
