It is another nice afternoon around the region, but temperatures today are a shade warmer than they were yesterday, continuing the warming trend that we’ve seen the past couple of days.

Tonight, we’ll see one more pleasant night with lows close to the normal and mostly clear skies. There could be some patchy fog again, but not as much as there was a couple of days ago, as we continue to dry out from recent heavy rain. Any fog that develops will be mainly confined to the high-elevation locations.

Tomorrow, the warming trend will continue as highs will once again push the 90-degree mark. The heat index, which was above 90 degrees in some of the southwestern areas, will be above that level in many more areas as high pressure moves to the southeast of the area and allows for a return flow from the southwest. This allows more humidity to creep into the region. There will be clouds around – as there are today – but no showers as the high suppresses any showers that might pop up.
It’s not until Friday that we begin to pick up a chance for showers and storms. The rain chances will enter the forecast on Friday, mainly by the afternoon.

The rain is being triggered by a front that is approaching from the northwest. It’s producing some strong to severe weather in the western Great Lakes region, but once it gets here, the chances for severe weather go away. What it will produce is good rain chances, and with all the moisture around, any storm that does develop will produce heavy enough rain to cause some of the typical issues that we see when heavy rainstorms develop.

As for temperatures, except Sunday, when the cloud cover will be thick enough to keep down a shade. Overall, we’ll see both highs and lows above the normal by a few degrees.
