A few showers today, warm weather ahead

It is a nice afternoon around the region, with temperatures in the mid-70s everywhere.
There is a slight breeze, but it’s not quite as strong as it was earlier in the day.
The chance for showers is in the near-term forecast as well as the front finally swings through the area. An isolated rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, but most places that do see rain (and those will be few and far between) will experience very light rain with minimal accumulation.
Later tonight, the winds become calm, and there is a chance for some patchy fog. The most likely areas to see the fog are those that picked up some rain over the last couple of days, as well as the mountain valleys.
Tomorrow, high pressure takes over the weather, and we’ll begin a warmup that will send highs into the middle 80s for two days running. Some areas will even push the 90-degree mark, but should wind up shy of that lofty level.
Later in the extended forecast, another low-pressure center drags a front into the Ohio Valley. The front will generally remain stationary and will provide us with chances for showers and storms for several days. None of the storms are expected to be severe, but as always, we will track it closely. Along with the higher rain chances come slightly lower temperatures, but nothing like what it was a couple of weeks ago.
