GARY, WV (WOAY) – The Gary Police Department has been on a mission to help improve safety within the community. Next Saturday the 27th, the department will be putting on a promo for free bicycle helmets for children along with an anti-drug mandate.
“We had had some complaints about children rising bicycles without their safety helmets,: said Gary Chief of Police S.P. “Pat” McKinney. “And we thought that part of the reason might be they couldn’t afford helmets. So what we’re doing is on Saturday the 27th, from 10 am – 2 pm, were conducting a safety clinic for bicycles.”
The police department will combine with several local businesses for this event.
