Four WVU freshmen to join Miners in 2020

WOAY – The West Virginia Miners announced this week that four West Virginia Mountaineer freshmen will be joining their roster ahead of the 2020 Prospect League season.

Noah Short, Carter Lyles, Jacob Watters, and Jimmy Starnes all made at least one appearance for the Mountaineers’ in their shortened 2020 season. Short and Lyles are both West Virginia natives, hailing from Hurricane and Madison, respectively. Short helped lead Hurricane High School to the Class AAA state baseball championship in 2018, while Lyles was an All-State selection at Scott.

Of the players currently on the Miners’ 2020 roster, 10 are from Division I programs. Concord University is also represented this year, with pitcher Dan Nicholls.

The 2020 Prospect League season is currently slated to begin July 1.
