BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Stewards Individual Placement Program celebrates AmeriCorps week. Over 1 million AmeriCorps members have pledged to “get things done” since the program’s inception in 1994.
“AmeriCorps is a great program funded by the federal government and it works with young adults all the way through senior individuals that are looking to do natural service. Any opportunity from community engagement and trail building,” said Program Coordinator Ryan Tant.
Every year, 75,000 AmeriCorps members serve more than 200,000 schools, non-profits, and communities across the the country.
“As a non-profit here in Beckley we do not only serve Beckley, but I just want people to understand that we’re nationwide organiziton. Our main goal is not to see a profit from it, but to see United States to grow as a whole,” Facility Leader said Lili Fuentes.
On Tuesday AmeriCorps Stewards members celebrated AmeriCorps week by volunteering to pick up trash in Beckley.
