Bluefield and Poca squared off in the Big Atlantic Classic’s Boys Class AA Championship. Both teams traded buckets early on, but late in the second quarter, Bluefield established a small lead which it rode into the half.
In the second half, the Beavers came out on fire. A pair of alley-oops to Mookie Collier gave the team early momentum, and despite point guard Donte Hopkins getting banged up, the Beavers cruised to a 72-54 victory.
Mookie Collier finished with a team-high 23, and Cody Fuller added 21 in the championship win.
