Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election is open across West Virginia.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, voters in all 55 counties can cast a ballot through Oct. 31, including the last two Saturdays before the election, at any early voting site in their county.
Fayette County Clerk Michelle Holly said midterm turnout usually runs lower than in presidential years, “but we’ve seen some good interest. We’ve already had a couple dozen people this morning just in the first hour,” Holly said.
Voters need only a valid photo ID to cast a ballot. Under state law, that includes a driver’s license, a U.S. passport or a military ID, according to the Secretary of State’s office. ID requirements differ slightly for older voters.
“If you are over 65 and … your photo I.D. was valid when you turned 65, you can use that,” Holly said.
