Calm Morning; Cold Front Arrives Later

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Morning conditions are mostly calm and mild with patchy, dense fog forming in the usual spots. Visibility issues will occur on the morning commute, but fog dissipates later in the morning. Temperatures will remain in the upper 60s for the morning commute before rising into the 70s. Skies remain mostly sunny for the morning, but cloud cover will increase as the cold front makes its arrival.

Showers and storms will begin forming ahead of the front this afternoon. A few of these storms may become strong with gusty winds, but most of the severe weather will remain to our east. There is less moisture present with this front, which will curb the threat of heavy rain and water issues. Storms continue to pass through the region overnight into the early morning, weakening and scattering as time passes. Along with the storms, this front drags cold, arctic air down from Canada into our area. As a result, the highest elevations could experience a wintry mix. Still, the vast majority of the region will only see rain. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:

Temperatures will plummet overnight, resulting in a chilly morning for everyone. Morning lows will dip into the upper 30s, which is well below average for this time of the year. Showers will linger, but are anticipated to fade out mid-morning. Vendors and early morning commuters may experience a light drizzle, but Most of Bridge Day should be unaffected by rain. Cold temperatures remain through the day, only reaching the upper 40s at their peak. Plenty of layers are needed for those attending Bridge Day or doing anything else outside.

High pressure will move into the region on Sunday, resulting in an extended period of dry and cool weather. Sunday morning will be frosty as temperatures dip into the lower 30s. However, temperatures recover into the upper 50s that afternoon. Next week, conditions will remain dry, cool, and sunny. Afternoon temperatures gradually rise into the mid-60s later next week, but morning lows will remain in the lower 40s. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
