AWAY hosting vigils in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on October 14 and 15

West Virginia (WOAY) October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, dedicated to celebrating survivors and honoring those we have lost.

AWAY, formerly known as the Women’s Resource Center, is hosting candlelight vigils this month to pay respects to those who have lost their lives and share information with the community to help stop the violence.

The organization will also award community leaders who have played a crucial role in helping the organization further its mission.

The first vigil is in Raleigh County on Wednesday, October 14, at the Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre.

There will be another vigil in Nicholas County on Thursday, October 15, at Summersville City Hall on 400 North Broad Street.

Both events will be held at noon, and lunch will be served.

The event is free and open for the public to attend.
