Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) This Friday marked 25 years since the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, and on Friday night, emergency responders honored the fallen with a parade of lights in Raleigh County. Locals gathered along the parade route, starting at Independence High School and following Robert C. Byrd Drive all the way to downtown Beckley, then continuing down Ragland Road to finish at the Linda K. Epling Stadium.
The 12-mile parade was completely silent to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day that forever changed the country. Even 25 years later, so many hearts and minds honor the promise never to forget.
