WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WOAY) – Sen. Jim Justice says he is considering running for governor in 2028.
In an interview with MetroNews Thursday morning, he said he is “100 percent” considering launching a campaign and will make a decision soon. A former two-term governor, Justice said he is basing the decision on the atmosphere surrounding business in the state.
“I’m not going to tease around with people, that’s awful to do. That’s not my style,” Justice said in an interview on “Talkline.” “We’ll make a decision and make it quickly.”
Shortly afterward, Gov. Patrick Morrisey was asked about Justice’s statement by a West Virginia Watch reporter. He said he is focusing on making major progress in the state.
“I think we’re going to make sure people know about our record. West Virginia is in its comeback story and we’ve worked really hard just over the last 18 to 20 months to make really big things happen. It’s literally, what, 20 months into my first term? That’s the last thing I want to focus on. I want to deliver. I want to keep delivering on big wins for West Virginia like we announced today, helping our families, not playing politics. I want to make sure that we’re doing those really incredible things to help families who are struggling. That’s what my focus is.”
