Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) A Pocahontas County man will serve prison time after pleading guilty to felony fleeing and drug conspiracy charges.
Prosecutors say 31-year-old Dustin Morrison was sentenced to one to five years for fleeing police and 10 years for drug conspiracy.
On February 14, 2025, officers pulled Morrison over for a burned-out headlight.
He refused to exit the car and sped away, leading officers to chase him northbound on U.S. Rt. 19 for several miles before the pursuit was terminated.
On February 24, 2025, Morrison, driving a different vehicle, was pulled over for a burned-out registration light.
Morrison gave a false name to police.
Once authorities properly identified Morrison, they arrested him on the felony fleeing warrant and parole violation warrants.
Upon searching the car, officers discovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, and firearms.
Laboratory testing confirmed that Morrison had 10 grams of fentanyl and 239 grams of methamphetamine.
He’ll become eligible for parole after serving 2.5 years, following sentences he’s already serving in Randolph and Pocahontas counties.
Morrison pled guilty to these offenses in March.
