Charleston, WV (WOAY) The Charleston Police Department is looking to add new officers to its ranks and has announced a new testing date for prospective applicants.
Testing is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, at 9:00 a.m. at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The department says first-year officers earn between $58,000 and $69,000 a year, with an additional base pay increase taking effect July 1.
West Virginia certified officers may also qualify for hiring bonuses of up to $15,000.
Officials say the department offers competitive benefits, specialized career opportunities, and a 12-hour shift schedule with every other weekend off.
Those interested can apply online ahead of the upcoming test date.
