It is Public Safety Telecommunications week

Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – This week of April is when the nation takes time to acknowledge the person on the other end of the phone when we call 911.

Even though they don’t show up at the scene, they are a vital link in the chain to saving someone’s life.

The dispatchers look forward to this week, as this job has many good and bad days.

When there is an emergency and a call to 911 is placed, what a relief it is when someone answers the phone.

The week is primarily for the dispatchers who have a rather stressful and demanding job. It allows them to come out of their comfort zone by dressing up in different themes each day.

Of course, it also gives them long-overdue acknowledgement.
