Clendenin, WV (WOAY) A Kanawha County woman is facing charges after a reported disturbance turned into a stabbing investigation.
On Tuesday, March 31, deputies were called to Big Sandy Road for a reported disturbance.
When they arrived, they made contact with James Hammack and his daughter, Ashley Thompson, who said they were living inside a chicken coop at the time.
According to Hammack, while returning home, he heard the suspect, Anna Groves, scream, “I’m going to kill you.”
Thompson told authorities she was asleep in the coop when Anna and Jason Groves tried to force their way inside.
She says Groves entered the coop and threatened her, prompting Thompson to pull a knife and stab her.
Both suspects had fled before deputies arrived.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office was later notified by the Charleston Police Department when Groves arrived at CAMC General Hospital as a stabbing victim.
In a recorded statement, Groves admitted she did not threaten Thompson but said she intended to confront her over money she claimed was stolen.
She reported being stabbed after entering the coop.
No charges will be filed against Thompson.
However, Groves is facing a felony burglary charge, and authorities have issued a warrant for her arrest.
