Charleston, WV (WOAY)- If you are a certified officer in the state of West Virginia, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is knocking.
The West Virginia State Police (WVSP) is now offering a one-time lateral transfer program only for certified in-state officers.
This limited-time offer includes a 2-week academy, guaranteed placement within commuting policy, and a starting base salary of $60,984 with numerous opportunities for overtime.
Contract assignments pay up to $80 an hour, plus officers receive a take-home vehicle, health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as early retirement options at age 50 with 25 years of service or 52 with 20 years of service.
Testing begins in January, and the academy kicks off on April 20, 2026.
