Mercer County SWAT assists with eviction following unsuccessful negotiations between tenant and law enforcement.

Princeton, WV (WOAY)- A Mercer County woman is in custody after a standoff with local authorities and then SWAT as they attempted to evict her from her apartment. 

According to Corporal E.P. Parks, authorities responded to Fox Ridge Apartments in Princeton to assist management in evicting the resident after they got a court order.  

The resident who allegedly possessed firearms did not cooperate with the eviction. 

Deputies arrived on the scene to help de-escalate the situation. 

Fox Ridge’s management and authorities worked together to evacuate the nearby apartment out of an abundance of caution.  

After 30 minutes of unsuccessful negotiations, authorities made it inside the apartment led by several members of the Mercer County SWAT team. 

Officers took the resident, 40-year-old Jessica Nelson, into custody without incident. 

Nelson awaits further court proceedings in Southern Regional Jail on a $ 3,000 bail.
