McDowell County deputies make two arrests in school threats, sheriff says

BRADSHAW, WV (WOAY) – Fallout from widespread false threats against West Virginia schools is continuing this week, as local law enforcement is continuing to make arrests.

McDowell County Sheriff James Muncy says that two students who attend River View High School have been arrested and charged in connection to threats against the school.

Deputies investigated the threats and found that they were made up and posted on social media.

The two students, who are not being named because they are juveniles, are being charged with threats of terrorist acts, conveying false information about terrorist acts, committing terrorist hoaxes, felony conspiracy, and disruption of government processes.

Parents need to talk to their children about making false threats and make it clear that there are severe consequences for doing so.

There have been roughly 15 arrests across the state concerning school threats. According to the state, 143 threats have been reported.
