Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – Governor Jim Justice has appointed a member of his cabinet to a circuit judge position and replaced him with one of his senior advisers.
Justice appointed West Virginia’s Department of Revenue secretary, Dave Hardy, to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court position in Kanawha County.
Senior adviser Larry Pack will fill the role of Department of Revenue Secretary.
The newly named judge Hardy is a former Democratic city councilor and Kanawha County commissioner appointed cabinet secretary for the Department of Revenue in 2017 by then-Democrat Justice.
Justice later switched to Republican at a rally for former President Donald Trump.
Hardy will replace a Democratic-leaning judge, Joanna Tabit, who died in September.
