Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): A few showers will push through for Friday night football and then after 3 a.m. Saturday, temperatures will start to drop in the wake of a cold front.
Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s latest forecast:
THIS WEEKEND: Saturday will be cloudy and brisk with temperatures steady near 50 degrees. Peak gusts around 25 mph are expected. Overnight Saturday into Sunday is when Snowshoe will see the first flurries and likely in a few grassy spots a dusting of accumulation. The remainder of the region will see a few spits of rain, cloudy skies and a brisk wind at 10 mph with gusts near 20 mph.
NEXT WEEK: After starting Monday morning with frost under clear skies and a light wind, the southwest breeze will kick in with a shower possible in the afternoon. Tuesday through Thursday will be dry.
NEXT WEEKEND: Friday into next weekend, a cold front will bring rain followed by wind and the first measurable snow (1-2 inches) at elevations above 3,500 feet (i.e., Snowshoe, Spruce Knob and Davis). A widespread hard freeze will end the growing season everywhere in southern West Virginia Sunday or Monday, Oct. 15-16.
WEEK OF OCT. 15-21: The week will start out colder than average and transition to near average temperatures (morning low in the 40s and afternoon highs near 60 degrees) on Bridge Day. Bridge Day is still expected to be dry!
