9/11 “Parade of Lights” scheduled for Friday night

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – For the 19th straight year, there will be a Parade of Lights Memorial Tribute in Raleigh County in honor of 9/11.

This year’s tribute will be held this Friday night, beginning at Independence High School in Coal City. The line-up will start at 5:30, and the departure will be at 7:30.

“I know the people of the area in whatever situation that has happened, whether it be heavy snows, or floods, the community has always stepped up to help their fellow man,” said Raleigh County Fire Coordinator Kevin Price. “This is just a way to show the people what a tight-knit community we are.”

The Parade of Lights is a “silent” event to honor fallen law enforcement, emergency medical services, military and other victims of 9/11.
