Beckley, WV (WOAY) The City of Beckley and community partners are getting ready for the 33rd annual Kids Classic Festival, happening September 7-12.
The week kicks off with a home run derby Monday evening at Beckley Little League.
Children ages 8 and up can participate for $5, with registration beginning at 5:30 and the derby at 6:00.
Throughout the week, families can enjoy free bowling at Leisure Lanes, a Lego building contest at the Raleigh County Library, and an open house at the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Youth Club.
Thursday brings a canvas painting party at The Pottery Place.
Friday night, the Youth Museum and Exhibition Mine will offer a magic show, balloon animals and special admission prices.
Saturday will feature the Kids Fest Street Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with vendors, games, giveaways, a Junior Firefighters Challenge, a Cincinnati Circus performance and more.
The Kids Fest Parade begins at 11:00 a.m on Saturday and will include festival royalty, bands, costumed characters, vehicles and other entries.
The theme this year is “Under the Big Top.”
