Hinton, WV (WOAY) This Saturday is for the birds, the bald eagles, if we’re being specific.
The 21st Annual Southern WV Bald Eagle Survey kicks off on January 10 in Hinton.
Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to participate.
All new volunteers will be paired with a more experienced surveyor to learn the ropes.
Organizers say volunteers will need to bring binoculars, lunch, and a folding chair.
They also recommend bringing a spotting scope if you have one, as it will be helpful during the survey.
There are many observation points throughout the region, providing anyone interested with several places to participate in the survey.
The group will meet at the Hinton Dairy Queen at 2:30 to share results.
Anyone wanting to volunteer must contact Jim Phillips via email at jimandjudyphillips@gmail.com before Friday, January 9, to be directed to a survey point.
