2020 WOAY Boys Basketball Player of the Year – Tommy Williams

WOAY Sports is pleased to announce Tommy Williams is our 2020 Boys Basketball Player of the Year!

The Shady Spring senior has been a key contributor to the Tigers’ success in recent seasons, as they’ve become one of the top teams in Class AA. Their undefeated start to the 2019-20 season saw them top the AP Class AA rankings for much of the year.

Shady Spring was set to visit Westside in the Class AA regional round when the season ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Williams says it has been tough to acknowledge the sudden end to his high school playing career, but he is proud of being part of the team’s turnaround.

Williams has been invited to play in both the North-South Basketball Classic and the Scott Brown (both events scheduled for July), and will continue his basketball career at Glenville State. He says he is looking forward to the new experiences, and being able to remain teammates with Luke LeRose, who is also headed to the Pioneers and is invited to play in the July exhibitions as well.

Congratulations to Tommy Williams on being named the 2020 WOAY Boys Basketball Player of the Year!
