FAIRLEA, WV (WOAY) – Greenbrier East football has seen consistent growth in recent years. The Spartans reached the Class AAA playoffs in 2018, and secured a top-eight seed last year, resulting in a first-round home game.
Now, the new group of Spartans want take that journey a step further, but they’re quick to recognize they’re fortunate to be playing a season this fall.
Many seniors say they had doubts over the summer about whether they’d be able to play due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but with Greenbrier County given the green light, with a week to go before the opener against Woodrow Wilson, they’re taking advantage of that chance.
