2018 WV Mid-Amateur: Day 1

WOAY – The 2018 West Virginia Mid-Amateur began Monday at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, with 56 golfers competing in the opening round of stroke play, eight of them coming from Southern West Virginia.

Of the 32 golfers to advance to match play, five were from our area: Jeff McGraw (Princeton), Hunter O’Neal (Bluefield), Nick Dent, Chandler Beavers, and Philip Zambos (all from White Sulphur Springs). However, only O’Neal won his match in the Round of 32, defeating Morgantown’s Joshua Arbaugh 3 and 1.

O’Neal will face Drew Whitten of South Charleston in the Round of 16, with their match scheduled to begin at 8:24 AM from the #1 tee. Quarterfinals will take place Tuesday afternoon, with the championship match on Wednesday.
