15 golfers advance to 2020 West Virginia Open

DANIELS, WV (WOAY) – Weather conditions were ideal in Daniels Wednesday as the West Virginia Golf Association held its third qualifier ahead of the 2020 West Virginia Open, at the Resort at Glade Springs Cobb Course.

15 spots were up for grabs among 45 total entrants, with 12 golfers qualifying thanks to an 18-hole score of +6 or better. Isaiah Zaccheo (Beckley) and Blake Zambos (White Sulphur Springs) would tie for the low round of the day, posting one-under 71. Six golfers would take part in a playoff for the remaining three spots, and it would take a second playoff hole before those berths were decided.

Among the 15 qualifiers, six golfers were from Raleigh County, three from Mercer County, and one each from Fayette, Greenbrier, Summers and Wyoming counties.

The 87th West Virginia Open begins Tuesday, June 23 at the Resort at Glade Springs. Pre-tournament festivities will begin on Sunday, June 21.
