WV (WOAY) – 10 West Virginian counties have received approval for public assistance from President Trump.
On Wednesday, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Trump approved his request for public assistance for Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
FEMA is still considering the requests for counties included in both the individual and public assistance requests.
The public assistance program gives supplemental grants to state and local governments to help pay for cleanup and building repairs.
Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne, and Wyoming counties are approved for individual aid.
Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming counties have been approved for public assistance.
All 55 counties can participate in the hazard mitigation grant program, which will provide aid to prepare against future flooding.
