WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – At the end of June, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department received funding to purchase a couple of canines.
One of the next steps for the department is deciding who will be training which each of the canines when they arrive. One member has been vocal about wanting that connection.
“I’ve always watched videos and just thought how unique working with a canine would be,” said Corporal Christian Hedinger. “The opportunity came. I’m excited to because, working with one, I’d be able to help out the community a lot more with the drug epidemic that we have and to make our community a little bit safer.”
There is no timetable regarding when the canine training will begin.
