Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia and Oklahoma traded touchdowns Friday night in Morgantown, but it was the Sooners pulling away to win 59-56.
Both offenses set the tone early, with touchdowns on each of the first four drives. However, the Sooners’ defense returned two Will Grier fumbles for touchdowns, including one which put the visitors up 59-49 with 10 minutes.
Grier accounted for five total touchdowns and a career-high 539 passing yards, while Gary Jennings had 225 yards receiving and two scores. David Sills also had a pair of touchdown catches to go with 131 yards receiving.
West Virginia (8-3, 6-3 Big 12) now awaits its bowl game destination, while Oklahoma will play Texas next week for the Big 12 championship.
