Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Woodrow Wilson girls basketball is headed to the Class AAA state tournament after a 58-52 overtime win over St. Albans Tuesday in Beckley.
The Lady Flying Eagles and Lady Red Dragons traded the lead for much of the first quarter, before a Beckley run gave them the 32-21 lead at halftime. St. Albans rallied to take the lead in the final minutes of regulation, with Liz Cadle scoring the basket that took the game to overtime. Cadle would finish with 10 points while Laken Ball and Cloey Frantz each scored 12; Jaden McDaniels led St. Albans with 30 points.
Woodrow Wilson will be the #7 seed in the Class AAA state tournament, their first appearance since 2009. They will face Parkersburg South at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, March 7.
Greenbrier East was on the road Tuesday in their Class AAA Region 3 co-final with George Washington, with the Lady Patriots rallying to win 90-81. Haley McClure led the Lady Spartans with 35 points and 16 rebounds, while Autumn Hill added 15 points. Greenbrier East finishes the season 20-5.
