West Virginia launches drought assistance program

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – The state of West Virginia has launched an emergency drought relief reimbursement program to help distribute water as the state contends with drought this summer.

The program will reimburse expenses incurred by public agencies, fire departments, and conservation districts that transport water to farms affected by the drought.

Those eligible for assistance are:

  • State, regional, county, and municipal agencies, including emergency management agencies and county commissions assisting in water supply efforts.
  • Local and volunteer fire departments assisting in water supply efforts.
  • Conservation Districts as organized under West Virginia Code § 19-21A-1 assisting in water supply efforts.
