WVU Athletics announces three new active cases of COVID-19

WOAY – On Saturday, WVU Athletics gave its latest update regarding COVID-19 results among student-athletes.

WVU announced three active cases within the athletic department. One is a member of the football team and two are members of the men’s basketball team. WVU Athletics says that 42 athletes and staff members have recovered after previously testing positive for COVID-19. It is unclear how many have since returned to organized team workouts.

Overall, the athletic department says it has conducted 600 tests since June, with 45 coming back positive for a rate of 7.5 percent.

As of July 18, the university said it had 41 positive tests since June. That means there have been four new cases over the last week.
