FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- The Historic Fayette Theatre is having its first Red-Carpet Gala and Benefit on November 4th.
The Gala will be a celebration of 85 years of the theater and 30 years of being a community theater. It will also be a fundraiser for some much-needed updating. They will hold it at the Gaines Estate from 5-7 pm, where there will be a red carpet for guests to walk on, live music, a slideshow of all the shows they produced over the past 30 years, raffles, and hors d’oeuvres for all that attend. Then after the gala, the guests will move the party over to the Historic Fayette Theatre where they will have a screening of the first film that ever played in the theater, “That Certain Age.”
The Gala costs $50 per ticket and you’ll have until October 31st to purchase your tickets.
Vice President of the Board of Directors at the Historic Fayette Theatre, Sharon Bibb, explains why this funding is so important.
“Our theater is historic and so we are in need of some repairs and HVAC for electrical. And we’ve had an architect that can give us an estimation of what it would cost for us to have these repairs done and updates, and it ended at about a half million dollars. So, we prepared a grant, and we submitted it to our senators Capito, Miller, and Manchin and Capito and Manchin should have picked it up for possible congressional spending funding. So, we’re very excited about that,” stated Bibb. “But if we do get awarded that funding, the theater will need to match 25%. So, the theater will need to match $125,000 It’s does sound like a lot of money. But we have got a great community here. And so, we’re just trying to find creative ways to raise money to be able to match that grant if we are awarded that at the end of the year. ”
