Soggy Weather Set To Exit; W. Pacific Typhoon Likely To Bring Cool Shot

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Tonight into Tuesday will be the last of the rain associated with the upper low and Helene before a dry stretch begins.

High pressure will bring sunshine during the day and fog at night Wednesday through Saturday. The weather will be perfect for high school football games with temperatures dropping from the low 70s to low 60s.

The weekend will start dry and then a few showers are possible Sunday and Monday. This front will be energized by a typhoon in the West Pacific (Jebi) that will transition to a mid-latitude low pressure as it sweeps north into the Alaska Aleutian Islands. It will create an imbalance in the jet stream and send a cold front into our region sometime between Sunday and Tuesday of next week. Then, on its western flank, a chilly air mass will overspread the region (likely Wednesday into Friday, Oct. 9-11).

A likely tropical storm and possible hurricane will develop in the Caribbean and move into the Gulf of Mexico late this week. It will likely move across Florida this weekend or early next week. No impacts are expected in our region.
