WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Although a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect, our assessment is storms will be very few and far between.
Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s latest forecast:
OUR ANALYSIS: The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for most of the region, but the cumulus field is shallow and the trigger is to our north. Therefore, a hail producing storm is only possible in northern Nicholas, Pocahontas and along the Virginia/West Virginia border near both Bluefields. The timing would be between 6:30-9:30 p.m., before the storms fade.
TUESDAY: The lingering cold front to our north coupled with a warm front moving into the region in the afternoon will spark more widespread storms, but hail and gusty winds are not expected. Timing is between 1-6 p.m.
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY: Lots of sunshine, breezy and warm with a high pollen count.
FRIDAY INTO MONDAY: Rain arrives in the evening and exits early Saturday. Rain returns on Sunday and exits in the evening. We dive into a colder pattern this weekend and early next week with a high likelihood for frost Monday and Tuesday morning.
