Princeton shooting leaves four injured, including child

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – The Mercer County Sheriff’s office and West Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting that took place at a family gathering happening at the Days Inn Conference Center just off I-77 in Princeton.

The altercation was between two family members who exchanged gunfire. Three other family members were hit, including a child.

According to Lieutenant Sommers with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, one of the shooters has been taken to a trauma center and the other has turned themself in.

Lt. Sommers said the shooting was contained within the gathering and was not indiscriminate.

The incident occurred roughly around 8 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.
